Timeline
  • 1500’s coffee made it’s way to Turkey, Greece, Lebanon 

  • 1511 is when people began worrying about coffee for it seemed like a threat

  • 1600 is when the Pope decided to excommunicate coffee from the Christian world up until he took a sip 

  • 1674 coffee arrived in Sweden and was taxed immediately

  • Middle of the 1700s, the Swedish Parliament completely banned coffee in order to protect industries 

  • In the mid-1800s, the first version of the tractor came along and made farming more efficient.

  • In the late 1800s, Alexander Graham Bell first invented the telephone

  • 1876 the telephone just took off 

  • Prior to the 1880s, 1890s, what you used to have was a worker following a horse with a metal steel plow

  • Then in the late 1800s, John Froelich invented the gas-powered tractor and took farming to a new level

  • The 1890s when we had the populist movement

  • late 1800 and early 1900s, there weren't many jobs for women

  • 1917 World War 1 started

  • 1919 the Horse Association of America or HAA was formed.

  • 1921 in Fargo, N.D. The tractor department of the National Implement and Vehicle Association hosted a competition between horses and tractors

  • 1945 the once-powerful HAA was admitting defeat

  • The 1960s women started coming into the workforce in greater and greater numbers

  • The 1970s suddenly opens up all kinds of jobs to women
