Yearbook Reflections

Most obviously, I grew this year in yearbook when developing more experience when it comes to photoshop even though I used mainly the tools that I already knew. I minor thing that I haven’t used before is “New Guide “ which became useful when we were to contain everything within a certain border. Besides from photoshop I was able to go out there more and take control when it came to setting up meetings through emails or in person to take photos, whether this was with advisories or with clubs. It was a higher level of responsibility that showed a lot compared to what I’ve done in the past.

One challenge I realized very quickly, was that it was difficult to schedule times to meet with clubs due to there activities going on and making sure most people were there to be in it. When it came to advisories, I learned that teachers are as bad as checking (or responding) to their emails as students are. Multiple times I would have to go physically talk to them to clarify. Next time if I were to do this again, I would start this process at the beginning of the year even if it does seem ridiculous.

Next year, part of the system that I picked up right away is that there should be two people working on the business aspect. I recognize that organization skills are a must and it works well with google docs but it needs to be more expressed which photos have already been used. I definitely agree with the team saying how we should have a calendar set up for future events that we should prepare for, deadlines easily recognized as well. Although I do disagree with picking the theme for next year. Yes it would set things up simpler that way students can get right into it but they should have a little freedom with it that way they aren’t stuck with something they didn’t want to do.
